You bought a P80 frame. Now what?

You’ve got a blank Polymer80 frame in your hands and a pile of questions. Which parts kit fits your model? Do you need a jig or does yours come with one? What tools are actually necessary versus nice-to-have? We’ve been there. Polymer80 Direct exists because building your first frame shouldn’t feel like solving a puzzle with missing pieces. Every product we carry is selected for one reason: it works, without the fluff or marketing hype that complicates a straightforward process.

Your first build is about function, not decoration. That means focusing on reliability—parts that fit correctly, jigs that hold tight, and frames that meet spec every time. We don’t carry experimental designs or gimmicky accessories. If it’s in our inventory, it’s because it has proven itself in builds like yours.

Start with the right frame and jig

Not all Polymer80 frames are identical. The PF940v2 is built for full-size Glock 17/22 slides, while the PF940SC fits subcompacts like the G26/27. If you’re building a concealed carry piece, the SC frame offers a shorter grip and slide profile. For home defense or range use, the v2’s larger grip provides better control. Match your frame to your intended use—mismatched slides and frames won’t function.

Your jig is non-negotiable. Cheap or warped jigs cause misdrilled holes and out-of-spec frames. Ours are OEM Polymer80 jigs, precision-molded to hold your frame securely during drilling. If your frame didn’t include a jig, buy one. Don’t attempt freehand drilling—it’s the fastest way to ruin a frame.

Build kits versus individual parts

First-time builders should strongly consider a full build kit. These include everything except the frame: slide, barrel, recoil spring, sights, and internal parts. Kits eliminate compatibility guesswork—all components are matched to your frame model. If you prefer selecting individual parts, focus on critical components first:

  • LPK (Lower Parts Kit): Must be model-specific. A G17 LPK won’t fit a G19 frame.
  • Slide completion kit: Includes firing pin, extractor, and springs. Avoid mixing brands here.
  • Barrel and recoil spring: Match slide length and caliber. A 9mm barrel won’t work with a .40 slide.

Buying individual parts makes sense if you’re upgrading specific components or replacing worn parts. For a first build, a kit saves time and ensures everything works together.

Tools you’ll actually use

You don’t need a full machine shop. Essential tools include a handheld drill (not a drill press), vise grips to hold the jig, a hammer for pin installation, and files for cleaning up polymer tabs. A Dremel with sanding drums helps refine the recoil spring channel. Avoid over-tooling—this isn’t a machining project. Focus on precision, not power.

Our Story
Questions & Answers

Frequently asked

Does my Polymer80 frame fit a standard Glock slide?
Yes. Our PF940 series frames are designed for Gen 3 Glock slides. A PF940V2 accepts a Glock 17 slide, and a PF940C accepts a Glock 19 slide. Always confirm the specific frame model. You must complete the frame machining using the included jig before attaching a slide. Our build kits include all necessary rails and locking blocks for proper slide-to-frame fit with OEM or aftermarket Gen 3 compatible slides.
What is needed to complete a frame build?
You need our frame, a Polymer80 Jig & Tool Kit for drilling, and a parts kit (LPK & UPK). Our Complete Build Kits bundle these essential items. You'll provide your own compatible Gen 3 Glock slide, barrel, and sights. A drill press or handheld drill, a vise, and basic hand tools are required for the build process. Assembly requires patience and following our detailed build guide video.
Do I need an FFL to ship a Polymer80 frame?
No. Our Polymer80 frames are not classified as firearms by the ATF and ship directly to your door in most states. You are responsible for knowing and complying with all local and state laws regarding unfinished firearm receivers. We cannot ship to banned jurisdictions, including select states and cities. Please verify your local laws prior to purchase. We do not ship internationally.
How fast is shipping and what are the costs?
We offer free standard shipping on all orders over $99. Orders under $99 have a flat $9.99 shipping fee. We process and ship orders within 1-2 business days. Once shipped, delivery typically takes 3-5 business days via USPS or UPS to most US addresses. Tracking information is provided via email. We do not currently offer expedited shipping options.
Can I pay with Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency?
Yes. We accept Bitcoin, USDT, and other major cryptocurrencies at checkout through our secure integration with MoonPay. Select 'Pay with Crypto' at checkout. MoonPay handles the secure transaction and instantly converts your crypto payment to USD for order processing. This is a great option for those preferring decentralized finance. Cryptocurrency payments are final and cannot be refunded back to the original crypto wallet.
What is your return policy?
We accept returns within 30 days of delivery for a full refund to the original payment method. The item must be unused, in its original packaging, and include all parts. Special order items, jig tools, and opened drill bit kits are not eligible. Contact our support team for a Return Authorization before shipping anything back. We do not refund original shipping costs unless the return is due to our error.
Is a drill press required, or can I use a hand drill?
A hand drill can be used, but extreme care is required to keep the drill bit perfectly perpendicular. A drill press or a dedicated drill guide is highly recommended for precise, straight holes in the frame's polymer. The included jig provides the template; your drilling accuracy directly affects the functionality of your completed firearm. The holes for the rear rail module and trigger pin are the most critical to get right.
